The Children’s Department has been busy with holiday programming for children of all ages. For the very youngest library patrons, Lapsit programs are provided for babies of age birth through 18 months. For busy toddlers aged 18-36 months, Toddler Time programs allow the children to learn early socialization skills while enjoying songs, stories, interacting with other toddlers, and even creating a craft to take home. For preschoolers aged 3 through K, Miss Peggy offers Story Hours. In December, the children enjoyed special Christmas stories, songs, snacks, and crafts. Older school aged children from K through grade 5 can enjoy Miss Gina’s School Age Specials and special Make It-Take It sessions. If you visit the Children’s Department on a Saturday, you might discover an awesome Make It-Take It craft session underway! Please come visit the Children’s department to sign up for programs or learn more on the library website at myfcpl.org.
In addition to all of the programs we offer you and your child, the department has a wonderful Early Literacy Area which is designed to help your young child be ready for Kindergarten. It promotes early literacy skills and inspires children to explore and learn through self-discovery. Children will engage in social interactions and oral communication skills. These young library patrons will have practice with real life experiences that encourage reading.
Computers are available for pre-school aged and school aged children to encourage development of their technology and reading skills.
While you are here visiting at the library, don’t forget to check out our collection of books, CDs, and DVDs. We get new books for you to enjoy on a regular basis, and if you don’t see what you are looking for, ask us to order it!
