Everybody can do yoga! Contrary to yoga poses seen on social media, yoga can be made accessible for nearly everyone. Poses can be modified to fit a person’s unique needs or limitations – no matter age or gender. Increasing rates of a sedentary lifestyle – car driving, desk sitting, television watching – make movement and flexibility even more important. No matter your yoga experience, age, or goals – albeit fitness, spiritual quest, relaxation, or curiosity – all are welcome and encouraged to join this judgement-free practice.
Yoga stretches and strengthens the muscles in the body, increases circulation and blood flow, calms the nervous system, and helps set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Students are encouraged to listen to their body, move gently, and progress to the next level at their own pace. Yoga is not a religion, in fact, the word yoga means ‘union,’ or to join together. Yoga is the joining of the mind, body, and spirit to bring harmony and relaxation into the body.
Beginning January 9th we will begin a yoga class that will occur twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). The class will be available at noon and 5:30 p.m. The class is $8 per session and must be paid one week in advance before each class. Refunds will be issued only if class is cancelled. Scholarships are available. You may pay for multiple classes at once. Please arrive a couple minutes early to sign a waiver. This class is for 18 and older, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This class will be lead by Katelyn Greeno. Katelyn Greeno has been practicing yoga for more than seven years. The intention of her instruction is to cultivate a mind-body connection of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Her previous dance background gives her extended knowledge in muscle flexibility and safely moving from one position to the next. She has completed several nutrition and physical fitness classes at the collegiate level and regularly continues extended education in the yoga community through her personal practice, meditation classes, and workshops. By the end of 2018, Katelyn will be a registered Yoga Alliance instructor.
The following classes at noon and 5:30 will be in room 219: January 16, 18, 23, 25, 30, February 1, March 1, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29. The following classes at noon and 5:30 will be in the
