The Frankfort Community Public Library will have a Virtual Women’s Expo on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Our speakers will be presenting over video chat and include award winning authors Chris White, Susan Crandall and Sandra Cisneros. We will spotlight the following books by each author: The Life List of Adrian Mandrick by Chris White, The Myth of Perpetual Summer by Susan Crandall and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
A Limited number of books by each author will be available to the public at no cost and can be picked up at the library beginning Monday, February 15th on the Lower Level at the Reference Desk or at the Circulation Desk. Please choose one book out of the three available to take home with you.
One program that is a part of this year’s Virtual Women’s Expo is by author Chris White. Her talk is titled “Spokes of the Wheel.” She will discuss her life as an artist (which has been quite varied: filmmaker, vocalist, novelist, screenwriter, playwright, professor, actor, director…). Chris will talk about how these different experiences feed off of one another, and what she once saw as a deficit (that she never stuck to one mode of expression), she now see as an asset. Join us on Zoom on March 13th at 2 p.m. to listen to Chris White tell her wonderful story.
The award winning author Sandra Cisneros will speak on March 10th at 1:30 p.m. Her zoom program is called “Conversations with Sandra” and is being recorded. It will be available for viewing on our Women’s Expo website on March 13th. She will touch on her book The House on Mango Street and answer questions provided by local students that have been reading her book.
Susan Crandall, award winning author, will discuss her book The Myth of Perpetual Summer on Saturday, March 13th at 11:30 a.m. Her author talk is titled “For the Love of Books.” To receive your zoom links for these programs you must register at myfcpl.org/calendar. We will also email your zoom link 3 days prior to the event as a reminder.
The Women’s Expo website will feature links to artists, authors and women entrepreneurs. Some businesses will have special deals available during the expo. We will also have pre-recorded videos available for viewing. Visit myfcpl.org/womens-expo for more information about this event and the authors that will be presenting
