Stellaluna by Janell Cannon is a classic favorite of mine about a bat being adopted by a group of birds. This touching story describes how out of place we can feel in our lives. That it’s not only okay, but encouraged, and no matter how different you are from others you can still be friends. This little bat not only makes some bird friends, but finds where she belongs.
