Frankfort and Clinton County serves approximately 30,000 patrons in central Indiana. It is located about 25 miles from both West Lafayette (home of Purdue University), 45 miles from Indianapolis and is about a two-hour drive from Chicago. TITLE: Library Director
The Board of Trustees of the Frankfort Community Public Library (IN) seeks a forward-focused and highly motivated individual to serve as its next Library Director and to assist with our vision to be the welcoming heart of our community and cornerstone of its economic, social, and cultural well-being. The library is governed by seven board members, who are appointed by the Frankfort Board of Education, the Clinton County Council and County Commissioners. Serving the 34,000 residents of Clinton County from a 51,000 square foot downtown location and three library branches, with over 50 employees and a $2.7 million annual budget, every day we help the community connect, discover, and learn. Today’s library reflects the pulse of the community. It is a place where patrons can gather for a cup of coffee and book discussions, study genealogy, tour the grounds and admire the architecture, partake in art exhibits and classes, participate in family literacy programs, enjoy live concerts, secure homework assistance, and much more!

Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the public library board of trustees, the library director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive program of community, informational, educational, cultural, and communications services. This responsibility includes managing all library resources, including personnel, collections, and facilities, and developing additional revenue for library programs and services through fundraising, grant writing and entrepreneurial ventures.
Schedule/Compensation: Full-time salaried position, includes Public Employees Retirement Fund Benefit. FLSA Exempt. Hiring salary of $85,000 + (dependent on experience and qualifications) with an excellent fringe benefits package.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess ALA accredited MLS, Indiana Library Certification: Librarian Certificate 2 (LC2) and have a minimum of three years professional library experience. Candidates must have experience in public library services or any equivalent combination of training and experience to indicate the ability to do the job. Candidates must have thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, and objectives of library science, the principles and practices of public administration as applied to a public library, as well as knowledge of budgetary and accounting processes. Ideal candidate will have strong management, leadership skills, and interpersonal communication skills with people of all ages and backgrounds to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public.

TITLE: Children’s Librarian
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time: 40 hours a week including nights and weekends.
SUMMARY: The Children’s Librarian will provide quality library service, materials and programs to children at the Frankfort Community Public Library, the three branch libraries, and community daycares.
Wage: Minimum Salary $35,360 annually; excellent benefits
QUALIFICATIONS: An MLS from an ALA accredited school preferred. A Bachelor’s degree required. Previous library experience is helpful, but not required. Ability to obtain Indiana Librarian Certification 4 (LC4) within 3 years.

TITLE: Children’s Assistant
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time, 24 hours a week. Nights and weekends required.
SUMMARY: Serve customers in the Children’s Department by planning and presenting programs for children during the school year and summer reading, assist with collection development and support the library’s strategic plan. Supervise patrons and maintain the department.
WAGE: $14.00/hour
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 60 hours of college coursework, associate’s degree or experience working with children. Ability to obtain an LC6 within 3 years.

TITLE: Public Services Clerk
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time: 24 hours a week. Some evenings and weekends required.
SUMMARY: The Public Services Clerk will assist library patrons and provide quality library service to the patrons of the Frankfort Community Public Library.
WAGE: $11.00/hour
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a basic understanding of most technology. Fluency in Spanish highly preferred. Must be public service oriented, have good customer service skills, and good attention to details.
