Library Card Sign-up Month

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! As gateways to knowledge and culture, libraries play an essential role in society and in our very own community. The resources and services offered create opportunities for lifelong learning, support literacy and education, and help shape new ideas and perspectives that are crucial to a creative and innovative society.

Libraries promote free and open access to information for everyone and offer a space to be without spending a dime. So how can you support the library's mission? Get a library card! Use it to access all we have to offer. Did you know that with your library card you can check out tickets to local plays? The latest video games? Original art to hang in your home? The internet? Yes, you can check out the internet and take it home with you at your library! And all of this for free. The Frankfort Library even has a Coffee Bar, an Art Gallery, and an actual Theater.

Librarians help patrons, not only find their next reading selection, but we also answer questions about computers and cellphones, we provide technology and internet training, help with job applications and resume writing, and with filling out government forms. Or sometimes, the library can just be a safe haven where you’ll find a friendly face and a listening ear.

No time to visit the library? You can get a library card online and get access to our many eBooks, Audiobooks, Databases, Movies, and so much more. A library card can be the most cost-effective card in your wallet. How much money could you be saving?  Visit the Library Value Calculator to find out.

You might have an idea about what a library is and does, but if you haven’t been in for a while, you would be so surprised at what we do. Libraries are so much more than just books, and your local library is unlike any other! You can access all these valuable resources with a library card. Stop in and say hello anytime. We will be more than happy to tell you about all we have to offer. Click here to apply for a library card today!
