Lois Ehlert is the creator of many different children's books. Her unique style of illustration, use of bright colors and themes keep children engaged. Her books have won many awards including the Caldecott honor.

As a young child, Ehlert was encouraged to be creative by her parents. She attended art school where she learned many different techniques for constructing books. After graduating, Ehlert began working as a graphic designer and illustrator for a children's book publishing company. Ehlert knew that producing children's books was what she wanted to do. Getting there was the challenge. It took her years to get there.

Ehlert has written and illustrated 28 picture books. Here is a list of titles that we have in our collection.

In Leaf Man, Ehlert uses leaves and other objects to create the characters in the story. Where does the leaf man go? What might he see along the way? This is a great picture book that allows children to visualize everyday objects in a new way.
