Fill A Bucket written by Carol Mccloud, Katherine Martin, M. A. and illustrated by David Messing is another one of those reads that got directly added to my online shopping cart. This is a children’s book. It is a must have for me, especially with three little ones to raise. It is a prequel to the award-winning book, “Have You Filled A Bucket Today?” The cover of the book also reads, “A Guide to Daily Happiness for Young Children”, “Bucket Fillosophy”.
Page three of the book is a “Fill A Bucket” song sang to the tune of “Frere Jacques” or “Are You Sleeping”. I thought that was an adorable, wonderful addition to the book. Children love to sing and hear you sing to them and most importantly a song helps them remember. This book is about everyone being born with a magical, invisible, bucket that holds all the love and happiness received each day. Doing things like being kind and using your manners fill other buckets. When everyone’s buckets are full everyone is happy.
I loved this book. The illustrations are soft, adorable, and show the invisible buckets overflowing so children have an idea of what to imagine. I think it is such a unique and convincing way to teach children about emotions. It teaches them that doing the right thing like sharing, caring, and kindness is vital to the happiness of not only themselves but those around them as well. If you have young children in your family, you will want to try this book out. I highly recommend!
