Senior Outreach

We believe that all Clinton County residents should have access to library services, even if they are unable to visit the library themselves. Our outreach service makes regularly scheduled stops to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and various senior communities across the county in order to deliver library materials.

If you or a loved one are interested in receiving outreach materials, signing up is simple. Residents of nursing homes or assisted living facilities only need to inform their activity director, and those living in senior communities can contact the library directly. A library card is required, but a resident of a senior community can sign up for one through the Outreach Librarian. Those who already have a library card can start receiving books right away so long as they do not have any standing fees. Visits are done to city and county locations on a rotating basis, so patrons will receive books every two weeks.

We have a wide selection of materials available for checkout. Large print materials are the most popular, and we have most of the hot new titles along with a wide selection of mysteries, romance, and inspirational books. Regular print books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and Audiobooks are also available for checkout. DVDs must be at least six months old before they can be checked out by outreach patrons.

If you know someone who is unable to read due to visual impairment, physical limitations, or a reading disability, they may also be eligible to receive materials from the Indiana Talking Books and Braille Library. This service is provided through the Indiana State Library and is free to use. They have large print and braille books as well as special audio equipment. For more information on this service go to the link provided above, or contact the State Library.
